Daniel DaCosta is Vice President of Operations at Modular Concepts, a family-owned commercial cleaning company in Marlborough, Massachusetts. He joined in 2019 as an administrative assistant, became operations manager in 2023, and was named vice president in 2026. He studied business at UMass Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management.

Modular is a family-owned company operating since 2008, and it still runs on the promise Luiz started with. Customers sign no long-term contract. Modular keeps them by doing the work well, and the average customer stays about eight years. Daniel’s job is to keep that promise true in every building, on every visit.
Daniel learned the business from the ground up. Each new role added another part of the operation to his job.
Daniel visited customers in person to ask how service was going and to catch concerns early. He kept the expense and sales records for more than 90 customers and ran payroll. He also organized the supply room, so crews had the tools and products they needed.
As operations manager, Daniel works with more than 50 team members on customer sites across central Massachusetts. He works right alongside the crews to make sure every customer is satisfied with the service.
In April 2026 Daniel was named vice president. He now oversees operations, accounting, and service for current customers, while keeping his operations manager role.
Daniel makes sure the work Modular promises is the work that gets done. He coordinates crews, keeps supplies and equipment moving, handles accounting, and is the main contact for current customers with an operations question.
Operations at Modular means site visits, crew check-ins, and fast answers when a customer calls. Modular uses a mix of employees and subcontractors, all managed directly by Modular, and everyone on site is background-checked and fully insured.
Daniel brings his business analytics training to the job. When Modular reviewed which industries it serves most, Daniel answered from the company’s own invoicing records. Banks and schools ranked near the top, and Modular’s industry focus changed to match.
Daniel studied business while he worked at Modular. He started at Worcester State University in 2019. In 2020 he transferred to the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. He then completed a Master of Science in Business Analytics there in 2025.
A gifted musician, Daniel served as president of the UMass Gospel Choir at UMass Amherst. Leading a choir and leading a cleaning crew have more in common than you might think. Both depend on showing up, and on everyone doing their part on time.
Service runs in the DaCosta family. Daniel and his father have served meals together at Our Father’s Table, a Marlborough nonprofit that feeds neighbors in need.
Through Modular, the family also supports the nonprofits the company serves and other local causes. That includes Wayside Youth & Family Support Network, the Community Foundation for MetroWest, and the Crossroads Continuum 5K in Marlborough. Read more in our community promise release.
